For the first time in a really long time, I'm being the selfish one. I'm putting my needs before someone else's. I'm trying to let the guilt roll off of me, just this once. Because the weight of that guilt might crush me like stone.

...single-handedly creating a scene.
Sometimes...
she spins around a little bundle of love to the tune of King Neptune's orchestra.
And sometimes...
...she just wants to be left alone.

Nope. Not selfish. That implies malice and an unwillingness to consider the needs of other's. That's not you.
